Time can bring family members closer together — but in Frasier Crane’s case, it can also drive a wedge between father and son. That appears to be the premise behind Paramount+’s revivalFrasier. The trailer, which dropped on on Thursday, seesKelsey Grammerreprise the bougie psychiatrist, who moves from Seattle back to Boston and takes a teaching job to be closer to his grown-up son Frederick a.k.a. Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott).
In a bar, Frasier raises his beer glass with his friends, Alan (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and Olivia (Toks Olagundoye), offering one of his eloquent observations, this time about Boston.
“What is it about the city of Boston that leads me to forgo the fermented grape?” he wonders aloud. “Sitting here with a cold brew in my hand, I feel amalgamated with the hoi polloi.”
“You are the classic everyman,” Alan responds dryly.

When Frasier surprises Freddy in front of his apartment, it’s not exactly the warm welcome the psychiatrist hoped for. “Dad! You’re at my door! Unannounced!” Freddy says after the unexpected greeting.
Alan jokingly responds, “Have you considered that he hates you?”

After Frasier notes that he misses his son and “won’t take no for an answer so I’m taking a job and I found a place to live,” Freddy explains to his roommate Eve (Jess Salgueiro) what his dad can be like — with a loud, frustrated “Ugh!”
Case in point: When Freddy visits Frasier’s impeccably appointed Boston home, he moves to sit on the couch, which triggers his father because those pricey pillows are from Christian Lacroix.
“So we can’t sit on the couch?” Freddy points out, as Frasier remarks, “Not in jeans.”

The trailer concludes with his son, Alan and Olivia seated at a bar, with Eve poised to serve drinks.
“Today, I’m spending time with my colleagues and friends, and I can say for the first timethat Frasier Crane wants for nothing,” Frasier beams.
“Aw, that’s too bad,” Eve replies. “I had somebody I wanted to set you up with.”
“I can be ready in 5 minutes,” he shoots back.
