A source told PEOPLE on Friday that a behind-the-scenes mishap led to Rowland’s sudden departure from the morning show, where she was slated not only to host with Kotb but also to appear during the show’s 8 a.m. hour.

“Kelly walked out because she and her team didn’t like her dressing room,” the source shared. “Rita Ora agreed to fill in at the last minute. Many people at the show, inside and outside of the show, were impressed with how great she was.”

During Ora’s time on air, she shared some news of her own asshe debuted a dramatic chopthat her hairstylist had done just hours before.

She joked that “jet lag” was to blame for the sudden decision, which she called a “fresh start.”
