Well … yes . And no . And yes . And no . And yes . And no . And yes .
I am put to work in a very different medium than David [ Benioff ] and Dan [ Weiss ] , never blank out . They had six hours for this final season . I expect these last two books of mine will fill 3000 manuscript varlet between them before I ’m done … and if more pages and chapters and scenes are needed , I ’ll add them . And of track the butterfly effect will be at piece of work as well ; those of you who follow this Not A Blog will cognize that I ’ve been talking about that since time of year one . There are characters who never made it onto the screen at all , and others who died in the show but still live in the books … so if nothing else , the reader will learn what come about to Jeyne Poole , Lady Stoneheart , Penny and her pig , Skahaz Shavepate , Arianne Martell , Darkstar , Victarion Greyjoy , Ser Garlan the Gallant , Aegon VI , and a myriad of other quality both great and small that spectator of the show never had the chance to meet . Book or show , which will be the ‘ existent ’ ending ? It ’s a silly question .
During all of time of year eight’scommotion , it became really , really leisurely to lose visual sense of just how far away from the seed stuff the show had stick because of how large and straggle Game of Thrones became in its own right . It seems obvious to say now , but of line Martin ’s novels are going to play out differently . They ’ve got to , because a significant amount of important characters are so intermeshed in the story that it ca n’t really come to a finish without their involvement .
Interconnected as they are , Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire are their own separate , different matter , and so it ’s fitting that they ’ll both close out in slipway clear-cut and unique to them . Of course , Martin is n’t going to get into specifics — for instance , if thesame mortal stop up “ winning”—which is to be bear .
