This image is so weird and rare that you may think it ’s a freaky photoshop . It ’s not — it was shoot by aquatic ecologist Carlos de la Rosa , who says it ’s a extremely rare and unique exposure . The butterfly and the bee drank the tear from a Caiman genus Crocodylus for 15 minutes . There ’s video too :
According to De la Rosa — who is the director of theLa Selva Biological Station for the Organization for Tropical Studiesin San Pedro , Costa Rica — crocodile tears are rich in proteins and salinity , which is the reason why the insects drink them . He published a description and photos of the upshot in the diary Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment . He says that , although there are reports of worm drink crocodile tear , this is seldom documented by biologists : “ It was one of those natural account moments that you long to see up close . ”
