The Boeing 787 Dreamliner , which has been grounded for week now , may soon have a chance to vanish again . Boeing has proposed a redesign for the bursting in flame battery that would minimize the risk of fire . It ’s not a permanent root but it would get the 787 in the air for the time being .
The WSJ reports that Boeing will increase the space and separation “ between prison cell in the lithium - ion batteries to foreshorten the likely hazards from heat or fire unfold within the batteries and adding enhanced high temperature - sensing element . ” Boeing might also make the battery cells more unbending to stop over them from moving around . No matter what though , Boeing is still fully attached to the new Li - ion batteries in the 787 Dreamliner ( other airplanes practice atomic number 28 - cadium ) .
