With their way blocked as they undertake to cross the route , the female parent bear seek a new scheme to sack up the path . While many tourist endure aside from the charge bears , some continued to take photos as if their lives were not in any danger .
“ These tourists were absolutely in danger , ” said Bob Gibson , Montana Fish , Wildlife , and Parks Communication and Education Program Manager , speaking to NBC News . “ Black bears are usually unsure of people . But you put them with their sonny and they get really protective . You never require to be between a bear and its rookie . ”
Was the bear wrong for charging at the tourer ? Of naturally it wasn’t — it ’s a bear .
Yellowstone has about 1,000 “ bear jams ” every yr , where pitiful tourists pop off their cable car to snap photos of bear near the route , causing a traffic muddle . enrage by stacks and sometimes one C of humanity intruding upon their district , bear will agitate at the holidaymaker to ward them off . Imagine being stupefy at the back of a waiting line of railcar as a hoar bear is now racing towards you . You ’d probably start screaming and run away — another major error , you ’ve just made yourself more of a target .
“ Ideally , the visitors on the bridge would have stay in their vehicles , ” state Kerry Gunther , the park ’s bear management program leader , speaking toAustralian Broadcasting Corporation . “ They instead should have grouped together on one side of the bridge and allowed the bears to guide . Yellowstone has never had a bear - caused injury among group of three or more people . ”
Fortunately for the visitors , the bear cubs were only about 13 month old and as such , their mother is less protective of them than she would have been if they were younger .
According toYellowstone regulations , people should remain calm around bears , bundle together as a larger chemical group if a bear does approach and definitely not pop running .
