On any other daylight of the year , you might indite this off as kitschy schmalz . But hey ! It ’s Christmas eve — a 24-hour interval when the fact that 100 of architecture students actually designed Santa ’s logistics center is in reality pretty fun .
Almost 250 designers put in plans and renderings of their imaginativeness for Santa ’s “ logistics center , ” as part of acompetition run by Helsinki Design Weekand the Finnish construction company Ruukki . The winning proposals are all null of any ties to the veridical human beings , and a grinch would probably call them profoundly corny , but permit ’s hold our cynicism for the 26th and just prize that this many people actually took the time to plan this edifice out .
The winner , by Romanian designer Alexandru Oprita and Laurentiu Constantin , is “ a building that is unseeable at daytime and becomes visible when Nox add up — just like Santa , ” thanks to two - way mirror and a serial publication of facade projectors that turn the mirror into a covert at night . indoors is a full - blown logistics center of which Amazon would be jealous .

And then there were a handful of blue runner up , like Giorgia Musacchio ’s logistics center , which looks quite a bit like an real shipping hub and includes perquisite for exhausted ELF including a gym and a waiting area :
Meanwhile , Urszula Chomiak and Pawel Potemkowski suppose Santa ’s HQ as a gift to the local community in the far magnetic north of Finland — so they edge the transportation center with a gigantic public chicken feed mounting wall . “ Mr. Santa Claus is a responsible person , who cares about people and tries to make the human beings a better spot , ” they write . “ On the other hand , build typical logistics center can be harmful to urban environment . But what if it becomes a gift for citizens ? ”
