Archer ’s sixth season is almost over , with the first of a two - part finale seeing the blundering super undercover agent and miscellaneous hanger - on being miniaturized and injected into a comatose scientist . “ Drastic Voyage : Part One ” ( blorp ! ) mixes high - stakes danger with goofy point of reference … a classic Archer formula for success .

We spread , as almost always , at the part , where Gary Cole ’s Special Agent Hawley is countenance everyone in on their next mission . And we do intend everyone , since Pam and company “ all stow off somehow anyway , so this prison term they ’re go along so they can be contain . ” Hah . Ray is still whining about his new , racially incongruous hand ( allowing for a “ Handingo ! ” joke ) , but everyone sits up taller when they discover what ’s in store : in purchase order to save the comatose Dr. Zoltan Kovacs , they ’re going to have to laser out the blood clot in his very valuable brain . To do this , they ’ll be “ miniaturized to the size of bacteria ” and injected inside of him . If they succeed , they ’ll get a million bucks apiece . If they fail , they ’ll either be destroy by uncanny science as part of the experiment , or they ’ll be blackballed from ever working in espionage again .
“ Is there some reasonableness you ca n’t do regular surgical process without a shrink ray ? ”
“ Yes . There is . ”
That ’s about all the additional info they get once they come at the CIA ’s research lab in New Mexico , where Slater virtually pummels Archer , who ca n’t dissent antagonizing him , to Cyril ’s annoyance ( “ Cyril … are you jealous ? I ’m gon na make it up to you , buddy ! ” “ Please do n’t . ” ) A frizzly distaff CIA scientist with a complicated name ( and Carrie Brownstein ’s articulation ) make indisputable everyone knows that “ Dr. Kovacs and I are lovers ” before unwrap the vessel they ’ll be piloting through Kovacs ’ blood stream : theNereus , a submarine that more resembles a spaceship .
Archer would like to be captain ( his qualifications include having seen the following zep picture : Operation Petticoat , Das Boot , The Enemy Below , Run Silent Run Deep , and Yellow Submarine ) , but Ray gets that gig , and Archer has to content himself with the laser turret . There ’s a grand if WTF interlude that include the phrase “ Oh my god , Slim Goodbody ! ” ( gravely though , that was my precise reaction too ) and “ television ’s Michael Gray ” ( who makes Archer go full fanboy for an lovely moment ) .
And pitiable Krieger , for whom there ’s no “ Leonard H. ‘ castanets ’ McCoy type of part .. a quick-tempered onboard medical officer ! ” Instead , he ’ll be in the operating house with CIA doctors who raise their eyebrows at his enthusiasm for auricle candles and phrenology ( “ Who are you , George Combe ? ” )
And even poor Ray , who despite getting to captain the blood stream - surfing zep , is having a crisis of self-assurance about his script . “ I ’m a monster , ” he mewl to his co - fender , Cyril , who assures him it could be tough … much worse … think a scenario in which “ the hand gets a taste for killing , and it ’s only a matter of time before you ’re out there , strangling male bawd , then position them in grotesque , direful parodies of Mentos ads . You know . THE FRESHMAKER ! ”
Meanwhile , as miniaturization approaches , Lana ’s attempt to get Archer to talk about what happens if they both , uh , die ( cut to : AJ hang with Malory , ventilation in cigarette weed from every niche ) , but Archer is n’t going to hear it , because he ’s pretty certain he ’ll be able-bodied to jump out of the Nereus before anything spoilt bump ( “ It ’s this new thing promise Arabian tea - like innate reflex … ” )
Of course something goes wrong , because this is an Archer charge , and Krieger ’s sudden desire to brook up for himself causes the shrinky - dinked ship to be injected into the patient ’s foot , instead of the right way next to his blood - clot brain . Will the ship make it to his head before their 60 minutes of miniaturized time are up ? Will they succeed and get the gazillion , or betray and be ostracise from spying ever again ? Part two wraps up the time of year next week .

Cheryl ’s epical speech about the wonders of scientific breakthrough , which name - checks the ilk of Hippocrates and Arthur C. Clarke , and miracle … before her revelation to Pam that she does n’t need the million bucks , but if she gets it she ’ll “ buy an orphanage and bulldoze it , for bullshit , and giggles … and screams ” ( Pam ’s matter - of - fact reaction : “ Well , maybe she ’ll die ” )
OR : “ What ’s more of import than smash imaginary womp rats in my notional T-16 back home ? ” What , indeed ?
