Update 3:32 atomic number 61 EST : 9to5macreportscode has been spotted in today ’s visionOS 1.1 beta update for the Apple Vision Pro headset that will grant exploiter to wipe out all data on the machine in case the unlock password is blank out without having to bring it to an Apple Store . It is unreadable when this update will be available to the public .

Our original piece trace below : Imagine buying a new$3,500 Apple Vision Pro headsetonly to discover that , drat , you forgot the parole . This very relatable scenario — who has n’t forget a word in their life?—has become a realness for some Vision Pro users in late days . Apple ’s reception : Uh , sorry , you ca n’t desex it at home .

Over onApple ’s official community forum , several Vision Pro owner report being locked out of their glossy raw headsets after enter the incorrect word — not the Apple ID , but rather the password to open up devices — too many times . When they contacted Apple Support , owners said employees narrate them the only refuge usable was to take the product back to the store and have them reset it on - site or get off it in . The password problem was first reported byBloomberg .

Users were understandably annoyed at taking their expensive headsets back to the Apple Store to fix the password problem.

Once at the Apple Store , equipment owners stated that employees fixed the problem byattaching a Developer Strap — a$300 extra accessorythat allow a USB - C connection between the Vision Pro and a Mac — to the headset and went on to erase and reset it . The Vision Pro is currently the only Apple product that ca n’t be reset by the user at home .

The fact that the Developer Strap is needed is already problematical , as the accessory is only uncommitted to hoi polloi who are part ofApple ’s Developer Programand not ordinary members of the world .

New Vision Pro users were understandably annoyed that after paying so much money for Apple ’s headset , they would have to take it back to the store only sidereal day after buying it . The Vision Proofficially went on salein the U.S. last Friday .
