An Even Better Look atDoctor Who‘s New Sonic Screwdriver

Last week , the BBC gave us a fleeting glimpse at the Doctor ’s latest version of his favorite plaything : the Sonic Screwdriver . But now that the machine has made its grand debut during theshow ’s season close , we ’ve get an even better look at it in its shiny , pulsate aura .

The Doctor Who Christmas Special get a Name — And a New Sonic Screwdriver !

First off , the BBC released a short video featuring Peter Capaldi mucking about with the young screwdriver — and unlike some of the more sleeker purpose it ’s used in the past , this one ’s a bit flashy . TARDIS - blue and gold / aluminium metal bits , topped with a beat light that makes it look sort of very steampunk - corresponding . Also , it ’s like , the size of Peter Capaldi ’s head .

You could probably club a few Daleks with it , let alone open doorway and whatever else the Sonic postulate to do .

But on top of that , they also released some construct art of the final blueprint — or nearly final , because it face like at one item the new transonic glow Red River , which might have been a bit too garish on top of all the Modern color it has :

But it ’s courteous to see Capaldi ’s Doctor getting his own screwdriver conception , instead of running around with his predecessor ’s ( and then ditch it for most of this season in favour of some sonic sunglasses)—a design that ’s now five geezerhood old .
