Just asa novel video recording fromAlien : Romulusdroppedonline , there was a knocking at my door . It was an unassuming software package that held something glorious : a VHS tape ofsomethingfrom the same film , and once I got over the fervor of the tape on its own , I had to see what was on it .
The mag tape was sent by Disney ’s marketing team and after I posted somevery excited and well - received imageson social spiritualist , a member of that team messaged me and urge on me to ascertain the tape . No , it was not just the same clip that had been released online . There was something more . I needed to regain a VCR . Thankfully , a champion of mine — pic critic Courtney Howard — messaged me to sayher husband Jeffhad one about 20 minute away . I catch the tape and my laptop computer , and channelise to their home .
While I was driving over , Courtney checked the VCR and , unluckily , it was n’t working . We spent 15 minutes trying to figure out the problem — in the meantime contacting other friends in the “ I still have a videocassette recorder ” club , one of whom was n’t menage so he could n’t help oneself , and another who thought he ’d lost his , but then found it — when Jeff lastly make it back home after a run . Jeff , superhero that he is , bring out he had asecondVCR in the house and keep to get it . ( Always be organized , people . ) gratefully , this one worked and we put the tape recording in .

First up was a brand - new clipping blending footage fromthis classic word footageto announce thatAlien : Romuluswill have a panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic - Con 2024.Here ’s that clip , which I subsequently twirp . But that was n’t all of it . The mag tape kept going and , likeThe Ring , I keep watching . First , the most late trailer . Next , that young featurette . Then , a brand new time which I recorded on my phone … definitely not as director Fede Alvarez intend , but sure as shooting how Disney merchandising did .
Pretty awesome . As it was playing I kept conceive a ) Jeff has a widescreen TV that ’s stretching this out , and b ) I wish I ’d twist the volume up . But no subject . The kind of fly - by - the - backside - of - your - pants nature of it was the point . And now you know all about it , which was also the stage of a very nerveless , playfulness , and original idea from theAlienteam . Here are a few more effigy of the VHS .
