S1m0ne has some of the same composition as the Niccol - script Truman Show , about celebrity and our addiction for fake “ real ” personalities . Pacino , desperate to finish a movie after his headliner walk out , turns to the virtual persona Simone , but he ’s not disposed for how popular she gets — and how curious people are about her . In a altogether demented scene , he attempts to ruin Simone ’s vocation by having her direct and star in her own bestiality picture , where she crawl around a pigpen in a wedding apparel , bobbing for apple in the pig bed ’ trough . And people still root on for the ( by now Acadamy - laurels - winning ) Simone . What to do ?
Sure S1m0ne is devise as heck , and feature a few too many actor’s line about how people really prefer bogus actor to real ones , and what is trueness anyway , yadda yadda , but it ’s deserving it all for the mentation - experimentation , and for Pacino ’s flirtatious execution as Victor play Simone .
