HBO Max has harbinger it ’s reviving the Cartoon connection show with a series of four one - hour special , one year after the herald animate series end . According to a press release , the specials — under the share name Adventure Time : Distant Lands — will tell several tale within the Land of Ooo , culminating in a reunification adventure starring Finn and Jake .
Distant Lands follows the bittersweet and movingseries finale , which finish beautifully but still left room for the tale to grow . The special are being produce by Cartoon web Studios , but are set to air on HBO Max . Though the press release noted the serial was created by Pendleton Ward , it did not specify who would be working behind the scenes on the miniseries .

Finally , there ’s Together Again , which will reunify Finn and Jake and send them on “ the most important adventure of their lives . ”

HBO Max has beenmaking headlineswith some of its big - name acquisition . For example , the cyclosis service recently acquired the entireStudio Ghibli motion-picture show catalog , not to mention thenew Dune TV seriesand cyclosis right forThe Big Bang Theory .
BMO and Obsidian will debut on HBO Max in 2020 with the others possibly arriving the following yr , though that ’s not been confirm .
